Vanesco spell

I must be missing something in the directions but I can never seem to choose the vanesco spell (the one to send the top card back). Even if its in my row, I can't click on it and have to choose something else. I'm not sure what I'm missing but it happens frequently.

If you just got out of a corner by using a spell, you can't use any other spells for the rest of the turn.

I'd guess that's what's happening.
